CCM certification pathway
The de facto standard case-management credential.
The Certified Case Manager (CCM) is the most widely recognized case-management certification in the US. If you are building toward case-management or utilization-review work, it is the credential most employers know by name.
RemoteNurse is practice evidence that complements CCM preparation. It is not a certification, is not affiliated with the Commission for Case Manager Certification, and does not replace or compete with the CCM.
What the CCM is
The CCM is administered by the Commission for Case Manager Certification. It is treated as the de facto standard case-management credential across payer, provider, and utilization-review settings, which is why it shows up so often in remote review-nurse postings.
Who it is for
Licensed nurses and other qualifying health professionals moving into case management, care coordination, or utilization review who want a recognized credential to back the workflow judgment they already practice.
Requirements
- An active, unrestricted RN license (the CCM is also open to other qualifying licensed or certified health and human-services professionals).
- At least 12 months of case-management experience before you sit for the exam.
- Confirm current eligibility categories, application steps, and exam details with the Commission for Case Manager Certification before applying.
What it covers
- Case-management concepts and the care continuum
- Care coordination, transitions, and utilization review
- Psychosocial concepts and support systems
- Ethics, quality, and outcomes in case-management practice
How RemoteNurse complements it
The CCM exam tests case-management knowledge; the day-to-day job tests judgment on real workflows - reading a packet, reconciling a record, and committing a safe next step. RemoteNurse practice complements CCM preparation by rehearsing exactly that workflow judgment on synthetic, no-PHI cases, so the reasoning behind the concepts becomes muscle memory. Your practice history is a readiness record you can show alongside the credential you are working toward.

Transition of Care Reconciliation
A synthetic case-management packet has a gap between the discharge plan and the documented record. Reconcile it and commit a safe next step - without making a coverage call.
